What is the CBD Dosage for horses?
Thursday, January 5, 2023
25 mg of full-spectrum CBD oil is the typical dosage for horses that weight over 800 lbs. For horses, donkeys, and mules under 800 lbs 10 to 15 mg is recommended. Please note that hemp oil and CBD oil are not the same thing.
CBD Oil which is typically administered through a disc, pellets or tinctures can support joint health while reducing inflammation, promote mental clarity while still performing at a high level, supports the body’s own healing abilities, supports calmness for horses with anxiety or are on stall rest.
Unlike human dosage, equines have an extremely sensitive intestinal system. So, administering the right dose is extremely important and calculating the correct dosage is much different than calculating human dosage. Did you know that dosage for dogs is typically the same as horses. Again, this is due to the sensitive Intestinal system of the equine family.
Can you give your horse too much CBD Oil? The answer is no. There hasn’t been any evidence that you can overdose or intoxicate your horse, dog or even yourself if you take too much CBD Hemp Oil. However, when it comes to CBD for animals, your horse or dog might become calm, sluggish or even sleepy if the dosage is too high. Mammals actually tolerate CBD oil fairly well. The body will use what it needs and then expel the rest.
When it comes to CBD, more isn’t necessarily better. As a matter of fact, once your horse is on CBD for several months, you might find that your horse needs only half a dose. Your horses will let you know quickly if they need more or less. You will be able to tell by the way they are moving and performing.
At H & J Equine CBD Supplements, we consulted with veterinarians, farriers and the many horse owners that tested our products to come up with the correct dosage. For more additional information, go to www.hjequine.com.
