How do I tell if I am purchasing real CBD Oil?

A TV station in St. Louis did a news story on CBD products that they purchased from various stores around the city. The stores mentioned were Walgreens, Bed Bath & Beyond, and even their local grocery stores. Only one in twelve products tested had a trace amount of CBD in the product.
So how do you tell if what you are buying is the real deal? First look at the label, the following items should appear.
- Brand Name
- Ingredient Declaration (CBD and Hemp Oil are not the same thing)
- Disclosure of Material Facts
- Product Identity
- Net Quantity of Products
- Warning/Caution Statement
- Name and Place of Business
It is also recommended that you go to the manufacturer’s website and look at the Certificates of Analysis from independent testing labs. This is the product testing that is done for every Lot Number or every batch made. When analyzing lab results, make sure to check out how much THC is in the batch that you are about to purchase, 0.2% or less is the standard that you want to look for. CBD products that are poorly processed may contain higher levels, which could make that CBD oil illegal where you live.
Chances are that if the CBD product does not have any of these requirements on its label or website, that the product is a scam.
To date, the FDA has not approved a marketing application for CBD. We are hoping that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will give legitimate CBD businesses guidelines, so there is an avenue to remove the fraudulent products from the market.
