Why You Shouldn't Give Your Horse CBD?
I am from Colorado where it all began. When Dr. Jarvis and I were looking for CBD hemp oil in the equine industry, we came across a lot of growers, dispensaries and CBD Oil dog products. This was in 2017, and it looked like we were the only ones that wanted to create a product for horses. We were shocked that some dog CBD companies were developing an equine product without any knowledge of the horse's sensitive digestive system. Most of the bakers we met thought that the weight of the horse was the determining factor for the quantity of CBD oil in each serving. Talk about a miscalculation on their part.
Let me introduce myself, I grew up on a ranch and have shown quarter horses for over 40 years. When you are a horse owner, you have many opportunities to work with veterinarians, farriers and horse trainers. My partner Heidi Jarvis has her Ph.D. in Natural Medicine where her pharmacy develops homeopathic remedies for humans and animals. Heidi and I interviewed veterinarians in several different States to determine the correct CBD oil dosage. I show quarter horses throughout the nation, I knew the product had to do well in all types of temperatures and it had to be sturdy enough to handle being stored in feed stalls, horse trailers, and tack carts. After 50 years of watching horses eat, I knew that horses waste a lot of grain by dropping it out of their mouths onto the stall floor. CBD oil is expensive and it killed me that it might be wasted. That is when I came up with the idea of a disc aka cookie. All horses like cookies, right!
So why did I name this blog “Why You Shouldn’t Give Your Horses CBD Oil”? Because the majority of the products we have found really aren't geared towards equines and most were isolates and not full-spectrum. See Full Spectrum vs Isolate blog As of today, most equine CBD products are manufactured by companies that don't know anything about horses' sensitive digestive systems and especially colic. So when you are looking for a CBD oil product for your horses, please look behind the scenes and find out if the company is backed by horse owners or just somebody trying to make a quick buck.
Obviously, I wouldn’t have written this blog if I didn’t think CBD oil was good for horses. I truly believe it is God’s medicine. I have been running my retired show horses on it with amazing results. Our theory is if your horse feels better, it will want to go and do it's job at a very high level.
Remember to love your horse because they are truly a gift from God. www.hjequine.com/order
